From now to 22 June, gather your friends and family online to celebrate Hari Raya and learn more about the festival and its intangible cultural heritage! While we can’t get together in the normal way this Raya, we can still soak in the festive spirit as a community online! For this, the National Heritage Board (NHB) and Malay Heritage Centre (MHC) have lined up various digital offerings which can be found on MHC’s Facebook page and NHB’s Ramadan Together Facebook events page.
MHC is presenting a two-month-long #OnxOnRayaFest (a spin on the Malay language catchphrase “On tak On” , which is used to ask someone if they are ready to jump into the next step of action), featuring a diverse line-up of online programmes that will showcase the food, fashion, culture and performing arts of the Malay/Muslim community.
Members of the public can visit MHC’s Facebook page to discover interesting trivia about the festival; immerse in cultural performances by local groups such as SG Oudist, or level-up their culinary skills by watching mouth-watering cooking sessions with personalities such as Marina Yusoff, Firdaus Rahman and MP Amrin Amin as they demonstrate their Hari Raya recipes!
