Course Overview 项目概述
The Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) is offered as a two-year, full-time degree programme. It is distinctively Asian and pantropical in its geographic attention, and urban in its emphasis. We aim to provide a landscape architecture education that is sensitive to the myriad challenges facing Asian cities, as well as opportunities provided by the sheer richness of heritage and cultural, socio-economic and ecological elements of the region. As a research intensive university, we adopt a research centric approach our teaching, necessitated by the constant evolution of the knowledge domains the field encompasses. Design is a core emphasis, but it is grounded in socio-cultural sensitivities, ecological knowledge and grasp of emergent technologies and techniques. Our location in Singapore, with its diversity of culture and cosmopolitan outlook, and where urban greening is a cornerstone of its urban development approach, provides an enriching backdrop to our training of landscape architects.

Our goal is to train the next generation of landscape architects in practice and academia who will be stewards in shaping a liveable, sustainable and resilient environment. Our graduates are expected to be able to navigate the demands of the profession, and the dynamism and challenges the environment presents.

The NUS MLA programme is the only university-level programme in Singapore that qualifies graduates for accreditation as a practicing landscape architect in Singapore through the Landscape Architects Accreditation Programme of the Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA).

Entry Requirements 录取要求
For admission as a candidate for the Master of Landscape Architecture, a person must have obtained one of the following qualifications:
Completion of the first 3 years of the NUS 4 year BA(Arch) programme, OR
Minimum 3 years of relevant architectural and environmental design education from other universities, OR
A Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree.

As well as
1. TOEFL/IELTS scoresheet – applicable to candidates whose medium of undergraduate instruction is not English. The TOEFL score must be at least 580 (PBT), 237 (CBT) or 92 (IBT), OR the IELTS result of at least 6.0. TOEFL score sheets should not be more than 2 years old when used in applying for the programme. The school TOEFL code is 9080.
2. A4 size hardrcopy academic design portfolio (10-20 pages) – the portfolio should comprise the candidate’s most important, representative, interesting, and genuinely inspiring design work.

4. Personal statement. Please write a brief account of yourself, reasons for wanting to pursue the programme and any relevant employment history and experience gained from your work. The statement must not be more than 1000 words

Modules & Graduation Requirement

To graduate, candidates must fulfill all course requirements within their maximum candidature period (4 semesters for full-time and 6 semesters for part-time).
A student pursuing a Master’s degree by coursework must achieve a minimum CAP of 3.0 to be eligible for graduation.
考生必须在最长课程时长内满足所有课程要求（全日制4个学期，兼职6个学期）才能毕业。
通过课程学习攻读硕士学位的学生必须达到3.0的最低CAP才有资格毕业。
To continue in a Master’s programme, a student may not have:
CAP below 3.0 (but ≥ 2.5) for three consecutive semesters; or
CAP below 2.5 for two consecutive semesters.
For any semester in which the student’s CAP falls below 3.0 (but ≥ 2.5), that student will be issued an academic warning. If, in the following semester, the student’s CAP again falls below 3.0, he/she will be placed on probation. If the student’s CAP remains below 3.0 for the third consecutive semester, the student will be issued a letter of dismissal by the Registrar and denied re-admission.

For students whose CAP falls below 2.5 for two consecutive semesters, they will be placed on probation for the first semester, followed by dismissal in the second semester.

The MLA consists of 15 essential modules spread over two years: Masters Preparatory Year and Masters Final Year. Students pursue the following four semester course of study.
