SINGAPORE – MAJORITY OF TECH LEADERS SAY IT IS CHALLENGING TO SOURCE CONTRACT PROFESSIONALS TO MANAGE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES
(Aug.8, 2019, /staffingindustry.com/)More than three-quarters, or 79%, of CIOs (Chief Information Officer) in Singapore find it challenging to source contract professionals to manage digital transformation initiatives within their organisation, according to a survey from Robert Half.
The survey of 75 CIOs in Singapore found that when hiring IT employees, 100% of the CIOs regularly hire permanent employees to assist with digital transformation initiatives, 92% are hiring contractors and 78% are hiring staff-level temporary employees.
“As companies adjust to the challenges and opportunities these technologies can have on their business, the demand for top IT skills continues to increase in Singapore’s critical skills shortage within the technology sector,” Robert Half stated.
Robert Half’s survey data showed that 80% of CIOs agree hiring experienced interim/contract professionals help their digital transformation efforts and 70% use interim/contract professionals to upskill their existing teams.
In a positive indication for the future of IT contractor hiring, 73% of CIOs say experienced interim/contract IT professionals have become increasingly important to manage their company’s digital transformation initiatives.
Matthieu Imbert-Bouchard, Managing Director of Robert Half Singapore, commented, “Singaporean companies are increasingly adopting digital-focused initiatives to modernise their systems and adapt to changing consumer expectations. The ongoing rise of digitisation in the workplace has led to increased movement in the IT employment market, with particular demand for IT professionals with niche skillsets who can bring a wealth of knowledge to benefit a company long-term, as well as IT contract workers who can help fill skill gaps in critical IT projects and initiatives and simultaneously upskill existing staff.”
